Spanish trotter Trebol sets world record

The 12-year-old Spanish trotter Trebol won Wednesday (May 1), his 43rd consecutive win, which is a world record for a Standardbred.

Trebol raced at the Hipodrom Municipal de Mao at the island, Menorca, in the Mediterranean and was an easy winner for amateur driver Joseph Carrera.

Trebol started his winning streak on Sept. 30, 2017, and on April 28 he equaled the world record held by Swedish cold blood trotter Järvsöfaks.

Trebol still has a way to go to better the world record for a winning streak for a racehorse, which is held by the Thoroughbred Camarero from Puerto Rico, who won 56 races in a row.

Legendary Hungarian Thoroughbred Kincsem won all her 54 races, and that is also a world record.

Watch the video showing Trebol’s victory number 43 at the track at Mao, which is a three-eighths-mile track (630 meters).
