Special Prosecutor wins feature at Vernon

Vernon, NY — Special Prosecutor (Steeven Genois) won the $7,500 featured trot on Saturday (Sept. 16) at Vernon Downs.

Valottalove (John MacDonald) went to the front and led to the quarter in :28.1. He slowed things down using a second quarter of :30.2 to be first to the half in :58.3. Special Prosecutor ($4.90) made his move first-over going around the final turn. Valottalove was first to three-quarters in 1:26.3.

Valottalove and Special Prosecutor battled down the stretch. Special Prosecutor took control but had to brace for a late charge from eventual second place finisher Lepanto (Barton Dalious). Special Prosecutor dug in and won in 1:56.1. Star Track Hanover (Dylan Huckabone-Miller) finished third.

Special Prosecutor is a 5-year-old gelding by Chapter Seven. He is owned by Phillip Hale and trainer David Dewhurst. It was his sixth win this season. He now has 11 career victories.

Dylan Huckabone-Miller and John MacDonald had driving doubles. David Dewhurst had a training double.
