Special T Rocks scores on Sunday at Dover

Dover, DE — Veteran pacer Special T Rocks returned to the winner’s circle following a 1:51.3 victory in the Sunday (Jan. 17) feature race over a ‘good’ track at Dover Downs.

Special T Rocks was a 1:51.3 winner.

Allan Davis piloted $497,149 and 34th lifetime winner Special T Rocks, an 8-year-old altered son of Rocknroll Hanover-Ladys Special, to his first win of the meet, scoring a 1:51.3 triumph in a $9,000 male pace for trainer Joe Hundertpfund and owner John Cancelliere. Allstar Preview (George Dennis) closed for second in front of Shellysblockbuster (Vince Copeland).

In the sub-featured $20,000-$25,000 claiming handicap, Jason Lynch and Too Darn Hot quick-stepped past leader If You Want Fire (Davis) on the backstretch and then opened up on the way to a 1:52.3 lifetime record victory. Three Day Forecast (Tony Morgan) was runner-up. Big Secret (Jonathan Roberts) collected third money. Trainer-driver Lynch and Jim Jacobs own the 4-year-old Rocknroll Hnaover-Kiss Me Kate winning gelding.

Claimed for $10,000 last month, Briono stepped up to the $15,000 ranks and won for the fourth consecutive start and sixth of his previous seven outings. The Four Starzzz-Shark-Armbro Bahama gelding is owned by trainer Arty Foster. Marcus Miller has been his regular winning driver.

Ross Wolfenden led the drivers with four wins. Allan Davis had three wins as did trainer Joe Hundertpfund.

Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m. Dover Downs is dark on Friday and Saturday. Live racing resumes Sunday, post time is 5:30 p.m.
