Speed was the name of the game in St Michels Race in Finland

St Michels race, held Sunday afternoon (July 17) at the Mikkeli track, which is located deep inside a pine forest, once again turned out to be a speed party.

The race was won by 8-year-old Finnish trotter Run for Royalty (sired by RC Royalty) with Janne Korpi in the bike, timed in 1:52.1f, followed a half-length by the Swedish trotter Makethemark with Ulf Ohlsson.

Run for Royalty has never been better, and this was his fourth win in as many races this year.

A fortnight ago Run for Royalty won the prestigious Suur-Hollola race and with the purse for the winner from Sunday’s race he has earned $190,000 this year bringing his lifetime earnings to $429,605.

Top Swedish trainer Daniel Redén had the favorite in the St Michels race in Mister Hercules with Ôrjan Kihlström in the bike; the pair finished fourth.

The day before, Redén and Kihlström had more success in the Aarjangs Store Sprintlopp in Sweden, where Don Fanucci Zet (sired by Hard Livin) was the winner in a photo finish followed by Brother Bill with Magnus A. Djuse. The win time was 1:53f. The purse for the winner was $60,000.
