Spitfire Oversees equals divisional Meadows track record

Washington, PA — Spitfire Oversees launched an impressive uncovered move that carried him past the loose leader, Rose Run Yorick, to victory in 1:52.2, matching the track record for 3-year-old geldings, in Wednesday’s (Oct. 4) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,500 conditioned trot. The time equals the mark established last year by Longshot.

Spitfire Oversees was coming off a seven-length victory in a Keystone Classic but found himself in fourth past the half, five lengths behind Rose Run Yorick. Dave Palone set the 3-year-old International Moni-Lagal Lady gelding to his task, and he responded by overtaking Rose Run Yorick in mid-stretch and defeating him by 1-1/4 lengths. Vigil Cobra finished third.
