Spring Mixed Sale slated for June 5

from Tattersalls Sales Co.

Briarcliff Manor, NY — The Meadowlands Spring Mixed Sale will be held this year on Sunday, June 5, the weekend following Memorial Day and a date, according to sale manager David Reid that will better accommodate those wanting to sell 2-year-olds in training.

“I’ve had several trainers tell me that even just a week more at that time of year helps in regard to a 2-year-old’s progress,” Reid said. “Like always, the sale will be held a week after Memorial Day, but this year it falls later on the calendar, and actually coincides with the first weekend of baby racing at the Meadowlands.

“It’s perfect for those wanting to baby race a 2-year-old, then sell,” he added.

Racehorses–as always–will be the main attraction and biggest part of the Spring Mixed catalog. But Reid hopes the 2-year-old segment of the market will begin to take hold in the industry, and that owners with an early-speed 2-year-old will start to realize they can turn a major profit by selling, as there are ready and willing buyers for those youngsters.

“For those wanting to sell a 2-year-old in training, they can baby race at the Meadowlands on Saturday, the day prior to the sale,” Reid said. “And we’ll also continue to offer the option of a special 2-year-old training session right after the baby races.”

For those unable to attend on Saturday, each 2-year-old’s training session will be videotaped and available on the Tattersalls website, with final quarter times posted should consignors choose to use them.
