SRF match crosses the finish line

from the Standardbred Retirement Foundation

Millstone Twp, NJ — The Standardbred Retirement Foundation is pleased to announce that the generous match grant has been met. The dollar for dollar match was the gift from a donor in the amount of $25,000 with a deadline of Dec. 31, 2012.

Coming down to the wire, SRF received its last gifts from two very special owners who called to make sure our match was met. All three donors wish to remain anonymous.

SRF is very appreciative to its donor of such a wonderful gift and opportunity, and to all who contributed.

The 2012 year for the organization was a difficult one with the loss of the farm, the move, and the interruption when the storm displaced the staff for two weeks. In spite of the struggles, every adoption since 1989 was followed up diligently as always to insure every horse remains well cared for, and adoptions numbers for the year remained consistent with past years which range from 102-130.

SRF is the only organization of its kind where 163 Standardbreds are under the full care of the charity with 102 permanently retired in pasture due to age or injuries. This match grant helps to provide for their needs as well as to continue to locate suitable homes for 61 others, follow-up every adoption for life, and continue the youth programs.
