SRF’s 12 Days of Giving halfway to Holiday

from Standardbred Retirement Foundation

Millstone Twp., NJ — The Standardbred Retirement Foundation’s (SRF) 12 Days Of Giving campaign kicked off with the best gift of all, the one noted as priceless. Diamond Creek Farm has opened its doors to one of the SRF’s Standardbreds in need of a pasture to live its life out with dignity.

The SRF has 198 horses in its care of which 125 are continually passed over by adopters due to age or injury. “Where would these horses go if SRF couldn’t care for them,” asks Judy Bokman, SRF’s Executive Director. “We so appreciate Diamond Creek giving one of ours a safe home; it’s a great gift and a fabulous way to start our giving campaign, ” said Paula Campbell, SRF’s President.

The generosity of the SRF donors has been overwhelming to the staff and horses at SRF as they receive each new “present”. On the second day of giving Tom and Mary Ellen Valeri donated a $1,000 to insulate and heat the tack room/office at the adoption center.

The third and fourth days have brought donations of a $120 from Brett Coffey for shoes for one horse with an injury and $500 from Dale Wyatt that will go towards the transportation and quarantine of one tagged for slaughter. The fifth day of giving gave SRF a surprise of $600 from an anonymous donor, which will provide a visit from the dentist for 12 horses at $50 each.

There is still time if you would like to fill one of the gifts on the SRF’s 12 Days of Giving wish list. Every bit helps to make the holidays a little bit brighter for the horses in SRF’s care.

SRF’s 6 other days of giving needs include 12-120 bales; rehabilitation care for one horse rescued from slaughter $400; hoof care for 1-12 horses or more $35 each; a sponsor for our Elitlopp fund raising raffle $4,000; a new sponsor for a pasture puff for any month or all of 2015 $240-$2880; a visit from the dentist for 1-12 or more $50 each; a structure over our riding/training ring to utilize all 365 days $8,500; and a tax-deductible gift in any amount to give back to the horses that have given so much of themselves.
