Stabler upsets in Michigan Breeders Futurity at Northville Downs

Northville, MI — The four $20,000 2-year-old divisions of the Michigan Breeders Futurity were contested at Northville Downs Friday evening (Oct. 7).

Stabler (Always A Virgin–Didrickson) got the upset victory over the previously undefeated Two Birds Onestone (Black Daniels–She B Jeebeez) in the pacing colts and geldings division for driver Brad Kramer, trainer Kelly Goodwin, and owners/breeders Kelly Goodwin, Carl Goodwin, and Scott Goodwin. Stabler flew up the lightning lane as they turned for home and capitalized off the pocket trip to get the victory in 1:58.2.

The 2-year-old filly pacing division saw Fix Ur Makeup (JK Endofanera-Kerosene) become a pocket rocket for driver Don Harmon and trainer/owner/breeder Krista Harmon. Fix Ur Makeup got to the finish line first in 2:00 by a three-length margin.

In the filly trotting division, Kandys Clarice (Class Included–Kandy’s Lc) followed the pocket trip pattern of the night as her path to victory. Kandys Clarice was driven and trained by Tim Roach for winning owners Tim Roach and Larry Elvin and breeders Cindy Mays and Anna Watts. Time of the mile was 2:02.4.

And in the colts and geldings trotting division, Andover N Out (Andover Hall-Fairy Tale Ending) got an early and loose 10 length lead to the top of the stretch and finished under wraps by 6-3/4 lengths, crossing the line in a time of 2:01.3 for driver Brad Kramer who doubled up in the Breeders Futurity stakes along with trainer Kelly Goodwin. Andover N Out is owned by Kelly Goodwin, Tom Barrett, and Patricia Frigon, and was bred by Libby Myers.

Northville Downs live racing resumes Saturday (Oct. 8), with two more non-wagering divisions of the Michigan Breeders Futurity for 3-year-olds, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and then 14 pari-mutuel dashes starting at 7:30 p.m. including the final two $20,000 divisions of the Breeders Futurity and the $10,800 Open Pace that features a full field of nine, led by the outstanding veteran pacer Southwind Amazon, who boasts 123 lifetime wins, putting him fourth all-time in wins for all Standardbreds.
