Harrington, DE — One of the largest annual purse programs of the year will commence Wednesday (Oct. 5) at Harrington Raceway as four $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund final events for 2-year-olds will be contested.

Aside from the final events, three $20,000 consolation races will also be carded as part of the 13-race program.

The trotting colts and geldings will kick-off the stakes action in the second race as Benjamin Brooks’ Master Clave (7-5, Ross Wolfenden) will look to keep his unbeaten streak alive after the Master Lavec gelding won his first three starts in dominant fashion for trainer John Wilkerson.

A stakes packed early Pick-4 (races three through six) will be comprised of three $100,000 finals.

The pacing colts and geldings will battle in the third race to start the Pick-4. A highly competitive group will start the sequence headlined by unbeaten pacer Almost Cut My Hair (3-1, Kevin Switzer Jr.), owned by Kdk Standardbreds, and three horses out of the Clyde Francis stable owned by George Teague Jr., Daylen, Henry The Dragon and Rat Tail, all of which were elimination winners. Henry The Dragon (5-2, Montrell Teague) won both of his eliminations and is one of three undefeated rivals in the group.

Filly trotters will compete in their final in the fourth race, with a talented three horse brigade from the Leigh Raymer stable that includes Rodney Mitchell Jr.’s Meantrotnjean (6-1, Allan Davis), Leigh Raymer and Erica Brittingham’s Erica Leigh (20-1, Tyler Raymer) and the partnership of Raymer, Stephen Moss and Howard and Helane Solomon’s Luv Is Blind (7-5, Victor Kirby).

The filly pacing final is the third leg of the Pick-4 (race five) and features three powerful entries from the Jim King Jr. barn, Logan’s Girl (5-2, Ross Wolfenden), Lillisbagsrpacked (15-1, George Dennis) and Spanish Dream (2-1, Victor Kirby).

Three $20,000 consolation events will comprise the late Pick-4 (races seven through 10).
