Pompano Beach, FL — Pompano Park, readying for its upcoming 46th season of racing, has begun the process of stall allocation for the upcoming meet.

Racing Secretary Greg DeFrank was bombarded with applications for over 1,100 stalls, of which 675 have been allotted, as of August 10.

DeFrank added, “Besides the allocation of stalls for racehorses, we also have separate stabling for yearlings.”

Stall rent for the 2009-2010 meeting has been reduced to $75 per month for racehorses. The stall rent for yearlings is $150 per month per stall with a discounted rate available for “upfront” payment.

The stable area opens at 8 a.m. on Friday, August 21, with stall assignments available from the Stall Superintendent on Thursday, August 20, or at Gate 5 upon ship-in arrival.

DeFrank also reminds all horsemen and women that a current Coggins test and health certificate are required for admission to the grounds.

Pompano Park’s pari-mutuel season begins on Saturday, September 19. There will be two Saturday non-wagering matinees — September 5 and 12 — featuring Florida-breds only as their stakes season gets underway.
