Stall applications for Hawthorne summer harness meet available

Stickney, IL — Stall applications for the summer harness meet at Hawthorne Race Course are now available.

Stall applications can be downloaded off the Hawthorne website by going to www.Hawthorneracecourse.com and clicking on the “Harness Stall App” tab in the Horsemen section.

Stall applications for the summer meet are due no later than April 15 as all horsemen wishing to race during the summer Hawthorne meet will be required to have a stall application on file. Horsemen who file late applications will be subject to available stall space.

As a reminder to horsemen, all horses racing at Hawthorne must be accompanied by a health certificate dated not more than 10 days prior to arrival and a negative Coggins test. A negative Equine Herpes test and vaccination within the last 180 days are also required. Proof of Equine Herpes vaccination is required for entrance onto the grounds at Hawthorne and must be on file in the racing office prior to entry.

Hawthorne Race Course, Chicago’s Hometown Track, returns with live Thoroughbred racing on March 30. The spring Thoroughbred meet races through April 28. One week later, summer harness action kicks off, racing May 4 through Sept. 24. Fall Thoroughbreds close out the year, running from Oct. 5 through Dec. 29.
