Stallion Series and Sire Stakes events at Pocono on Sunday and Monday

by PHHA/Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Pennsylvania-sired 2-year-old colt pacers racing in the third leg of their respective series, with five divisions of Stallion Series action on Sunday (Aug. 6) and three sections of Sire Stakes action on Monday (Aug. 7).

In Sunday’s Stallion Series contests, Iluvtomakemoney the only double winner so far, will start from post four for driver Tim Tetrick and trainer Mark Harder in the 12th race division. The Well Said-Symphony In Motion gelding will be looking to regain the road to redemption, having made a break in the Arden Downs stake on Adios Day at The Meadows. Two races (10th) before that will feature the only clash of previous Stallion Series winners, Grand Teton (post one, Brett Miller, Jimmy Takter) and Trajectory (post three, Yannick Gingras, Ron Burke).

Each of Monday’s three Sire Stakes races has its own tale. Perhaps the most compelling is that of Done Well, starting from post two in the third race for driver Tim Tetrick and trainer Brian Brown. The Well Said-Dagnabit Hanover colt is undefeated in three starts. He shows early signs of giving Brown another chance in his biggest hometown race (the Little Brown Jug) after the two big shots he may get this season.

In the fourth race, Wild Bill, a full brother to Cane Pace winner Huntsville, starts from the rail. He had been undefeated in two career purse starts, but then was not at his best in an Arden Downs division, finishing fifth. Trainer Ray Schnittker usually uses driver Tetrick, but Tetrick opted off Wild Bill when he had a conflict July 13. Scott Zeron will once again be back in Wild Bill’s sulky Monday.

The horse that Tetrick did book himself on against Wild Bill, Nutcracker Sweet, finished second to Wild Bill that day, but has since come back to win a Meadowlands overnight, and he will start from post five for trainer Jimmy Takter.

Race five has no fewer than four stakes winners: Pa Sires winners Pro Beach (post three, Gingras) and Pedro Hanover (post six, Tetrick); Sheppard winner Kwik Talkin (post four, Zeron); and Arden Downs winner Whatstroublnurocky, another Brian Brown horse (post four, David Miller).
