Wilkes-Barre, PA — The Stallion Series, a new series inaugurated by the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission in 2009, will be making its initial appearance at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on Saturday afternoon (August 8).

Three divisions of the Stallion Series for 2-year-old trotting fillies are carded for Saturday afternoon as part of a 17-race card, with one non-wagering division set for 12:20 p.m. That division has a five-horse field.

The series produces an extra racing option for owners of PA-sired freshmen. There will be four preliminary legs and a $40,000 championship for each of the four divisions of the 2-year-olds. Stallion Series races will be held the racing day before a Pennsylvania Sire Stakes race at a given track and Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will be hosting four such races Tuesday night (August 11) with purses of $64,000-plus.

Stallion Series races for 2-year-old pacing fillies will be held on Saturday, August 15, followed by the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes for the like on Tuesday, August 18.
