Standardbreds adopted from Equine Affaire

Columbus, OH — Just two weeks after Equine Affaire in Columbus, Ohio, New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program has placed two of the horses that were presented as “For Adoption” in the Horse & Farm Exhibit. Social Director (Art Director-Lady Rosabella-Dream Away) and Haste (Inquirer-Over Proximity-Overcomer) are in their new homes in Kentucky and Ohio, respectively, while Countmymuscles (Full Count-Super Katrina-Muscles Yankee) has an adoption pending.

“This is a great event to present the Standardbred to the public,” said Winnie Nemeth, the Standardbred Program Director for New Vocations.

New Vocations and the USTA teamed up to showcase horses that are available for adoption in breed demonstrations throughout the weekend, as well as in the petting stall at the USTA/Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association booth.

“One thing I thought was pretty neat was having long-time owner Beverly Ross of Ross Stables come visit Thorpedia (Real Desire-Bobs On The Road-On The Road Again), who she bred, raised and raced with Randy Waples,” said Nemeth.

Thorpedia is currently at New Vocations awaiting adoption and was featured in the breed demonstration as a hunter under saddle horse.

Haste and Countmymuscles were also in the demonstrations as a racehorse representative and shown in saddle seat; Social Director was used for in-hand clinics. Other horses in the petting stall were Autumn Escalade (Cambest-Ab’s Ultress-Abercrombie), Good Citations (Art Official-Good Vibrations-Presidential Ball) and Starry Night Star (Van Gogh-Certainly Devine-Of Course).

Thanks to the assistance of many, the Standardbred and harness racing was well represented: Rachel Beatty, Roy Burns, Kacey Burns, Danny Collins, Jennifer & Gray Daniels, Lyndsay Hagemeyer, Kim Hemming, Aimee Hock, Kacie Klarer, Jayme Laing, Regina Mayhugh, Jason Roth, Susan Schroeder, Sierra Stewart, Courtney VanderBrook and Mike Woebkenberg.
