by Jessica Schroeder, USTA Outreach & Membership Enrichment Coordinator

Columbus, OH — Standardbreds will once again be featured at Equine Affaire–Massachusetts, Nov. 13-16 at the Eastern States Exposition in W. Springfield. The booth space with attached petting stall will be in the Stroh Building, in booth numbers 2313 and 2314.

Sarah Morcom is coordinating the demonstrations and booth space, which is co-sponsored by the USTA and Standardbred Pleasure Horse Organization of Massachusetts.

There will be a demonstration in the Coliseum Thursday at 3 p.m. featuring Brianna Tarjian and her jumping Standardbred Merlin, a Conway Hall horse whose registered name is Parade; Wendy Flowers will drive her pacer Panzo Two; and Kelly Marshall and Elizabeth Tewksbury will feature their all-around riding horses Treacherous Cat (TC) and Dreamy Starlet. The group will also have a youth presentation in Mallory South on Saturday at 11:45.

If you would like to attend Equine Affaire to see featured clinicians, breed presentations and to shop the horse-related trade show, event admission is $15 for adults and $8 for children ages 7-10 (children 6 years old and younger get free admission). Show hours are 9 a.m.–7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday (Nov. 13-15) and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 16). For more information, visit www.EquineAffaire.com.

Since 1996, the Standardbred Equine Program has worked with owners of off-the-track Standardbreds to educate the general public about the many disciplines Standardbreds excel at once they are retired from racing.
