Standardbreds in spotlight at Midwest Horse Fair

Madison, WI — The Wisconsin Harness Horse Association will be well represented at the Midwest Horse Fair, as six Standardbreds from the Badger State will head to Madison, Wisc. for the event which takes place from Friday (April 12) to Sunday (April 14).

Seven hundred horses representing 40 different breeds, hundreds of vendors and nearly 70,000 people will flock to the state’s capital for the largest three-day horse event in the nation. The theme this year is “40 Years of Legends,” as the Midwest Horse Fair celebrates its 40th anniversary.

The Standardbred breed demonstrations will be on Friday morning at 11:20 a.m. in Pavilion 2 and Sunday morning at 10:50 a.m. in the Alliant Energy Coliseum. The Wisconsin Harness Horse Association’s booth is located in the 4416 block of Pavilion 2.

For decades, WHHA has attended Midwest Horse Fair and has educated thousands on harness racing and the Standardbred breed. Fair goers are welcome to the booth to pick up a race schedule, watch race replays, meet the horses, watch harnessing demonstrations and meet “Pacin’ Plywood,” also know as “Woody,” who will be making his first appearance in the WHHA booth. “Woody” displays a full racing harness and sulky, allowing the public an up-close and personal view of Standardbred racing equipment.

Of the six Standardbreds attending – Derek Bromac N, I’m Confident, Turn It Up Loud, Lil Miss Hilkris, Miles Mirage and Beware Of R Party – five were staples on the Wisconsin County Fair Circuit.
