Dover, DE — Stubbs Hanover prevailed in a tight three-horse photo finish in the $20,000 Male Claiming Allowance feature on an often-heavy, fog-shrouded racetrack on Sunday, Jan. 5 at Dover Downs.

With only track race caller Jack Gallagher’s description from high-atop the track announcer’s booth to go on through most of a 1:52.3, three horses charged side-by-side down the homestretch to be separated only by the finish line win photo. Stubbs Hanover, trained by Jim King for owner-driver Trace Tetrick, made the winner’s circle edging Bad Rusty (Tony Morgan) on the outside and Hot Roddy (Ron Pierce) on the inside. Jim King is winning trainer.

The victory was the first since 2011 for the now 8-year-old son of Allamerican Native-Skateboard. During previous season, the win, his career 13th, brings his lifetime bankroll to $92,748.

While a heavy fog covered most of the five-eighths mile racetrack, the stretch permitted a somewhat better view of final action. Not more than 30 yards past the racetrack rim, in the winner’s circle which is much lower, the winner’s circle photo was surprisingly good as shot by award-winning track photographer Quinton Egan who snapped both.

During the program, fog set in after the third race and only lifted after the 12th race.
