Toronto, ON — In accordance with Section 25 of the Racing Commission Act, 2000, the Director of the Ontario Racing Commission has conditionally cancelled Sudbury Downs’ ORC license, effective June 30, 2014 at 11:59 p.m.

There are certain financial terms and conditions that Sudbury Downs must meet before the license is cancelled.

On June 24, 2014, the ORC received a letter from Sudbury Downs requesting cancellation of its license effective June 30, 2014. The ORC also received confirmation that the horse people under contract have been advised of Sudbury Downs’ request for cancellation of its ORC license.

A Notice to the Industry on the financial considerations, including protection of purse monies, will be forthcoming.
