by Evan Pattak, for the Meadows

Washington, PA — Sunfire Blue Chip and Vegas Vacation have been installed as 2-1 and 3-1 favorites, respectively, in Saturday’s eliminations for the $600,000 (est.) Delvin Miller Adios at The Meadows. The final goes the following Saturday with first post at 12:20 p.m.

Trained by Jimmy Takter, Sunfire Blue Chip won an elimination of the Max Hempt Memorial before finishing a close-up third in the final behind Captaintreacherous and Vegas Vacation. The son of American Ideal-Shot Togo Bluechip has won half his 12 career starts and $142,464 for owners Christina Takter, John Fielding, Jim Fielding, Brixton Medical AB and RAW Equine Inc. He goes from post seven in race six with Dave Palone aboard.

Vegas Vacation took a three-week vacation following two narrow losses to division leader Captaintreacherous in the Hempt, and trainer Casie Coleman reports that the Bettor’s Delight-Don’t You Smile gelding trained well last weekend. West Wins Stable, Adriano Sorella, Anthony Beaton and Phyllis Saunders own Vegas Vacation, a career winner of $306,851, who goes from the rail in race seven for Brian Sears.

On July 20, The Meadows, in association with HorseTourneys.com, will conduct a “Pick & Pray” handicapping contest, with the winner earning a berth in the 2014 World Harness Handicapping Contest.
