Sunny Dee shines; wins Dover Downs feature Wednesday

Dover, DE – Sunny Dee shined in winning the Mares Winners Over/Select Pace at Dover Downs on Wednesday night (Dec. 8).

Bettors Heart N left alertly for the early lead. Feeling Sweet and driver Mike Cole waited for things to settle while being parked out, then gunned for the lead past the quarter in :28.  The half was paced in :56 (:28). The three quarters was reached in an uncontested 1:24.1 (:28.1)

At the top of the lane, driver Dexter Dunn and Bettors Heart N, confidently moved off the rail but started rolling late.  Corey Callahan and Sunny Dee, waited patiently third on the rail and rallied to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:52.3, returning $10.80 for the win.

Sunny Dee ( Sunshine Beach) is owned by Let It Ride Stables Inc and Bottom Line Racing LLC both from Boca Raton, FL.  Mike Hall trained and Corey Callahan drove.

Bettors Heart N. charged home late and finished second. Nifty Norman trained and Dexter Dunn drove.

Feeling Sweet cut the race fractions but tired late to finish third.  Joe Columbo trained and Mike Cole drove.

Driver Montrell Teague won three races on the betting card.

There are two $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund races for 3-year-old-colt and gelding pacers scheduled for Thursday (Dec. 9).

In the 12th race, Jack’s Legend N looks to repeat in the $25,000 Open Handicap Pace.
