Pompano Beach, FL — Despite the fact that Pompano Park was the only U.S. track racing on Super Bowl Sunday night, with most simulcasting venues closed as well, the South Florida “Winter Capital of Harness Racing” posted a healthy handle of $413,000, including the largest non-carryover Pick-5 pool of the season (over $21,000), a Pick-4 pool exceeding $30,000 and a Pick-6 pool in excess of $10,000.

The handle achievements came in spite of the fact that several top drivers were out of action, as were many of their stable stars usually highlighting a typical Sunday night.

The Pick-5, with one 9-1 chance sprinkled in with four other winners pegged at 4-5, 7-5, 8-5 and 3-5, paid a handsome $326.45 for the 50-cent ticket while the 50-cent Pick-4 returned $189.70 with the quartet of winners being 2-1, 5-2, 8-5 and 8-5.

The Sunday fireworks also included a gigantic Pick-6 pay of $6,918.95 for 50 cents, despite the winners being 8-5, 9-1, 3-5, 2-1, 5-2 and 8-5.

Racing continues at Pompano Park on Monday night with the aforementioned wagers in play along with a Super Hi-5 Jackpot which has blossomed to $102,912.43 going into that finale.
