Surreal Feeling still Saratoga’s leading lady

Saratoga Springs, NY — Surreal Feeling has been a dominant force at Saratoga Casino Hotel all year long, and the top-flight distaffer was back at it in Tuesday’s (Nov. 16) $15,000 Fillies and Mares Open.

With Alek Chartrand at the controls, Surreal Feeling powered out to the early lead and never looked back, going the distance in 1:54.3 to record her 12th win — and her ninth in the local Open — this season. The 6-year-old daughter of So Surreal held off a late bid from pocket rival Birch Island Betty (Billy Dobson), who finished second; Miss Irish Rose A earned the show spot.

Trainer Dale Lawton co-owns Surreal Feeling, the clear favorite to be named Saratoga’s Female Pacer of the Year, with Chris Lawton.

Surreal Feeling, who paid $3.20 to win, led an exacta and triple that returned $13.00 and $56.50, respectively.

Live racing at Saratoga resumes on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 21) with a first post time of 12 noon.
