Columbus, OH — Susan G. Nielsen, 72, of Alexandria Township, N.J., died May 25, 2018.

She was born Dec. 30, 1945, in Hackensack, N.J. to the late Frank and Florence Lazowsky. She was a resident of Hunterdon County most of her life.

In her youth she worked for the family business delivering auto parts where she met her husband David. She attended Houghton College for studies in Ancient Languages. After marriage, a honeymoon at Colonial Williamsburg continued a life-long interest in Colonial American architecture and design.

With her husband she traveled the United States from 1970-’73 in a motorhome, enjoying such sights as the Pacific Coast, Yellowstone National Park and a recently opened Walt Disney World. In following years she was a devoted mother and wife, worked as a horse groom, as well as a salon receptionist, eventually opening her own salon.

Daisies were her favorite flower and blue a favorite color. She was a collector of Stangl Blue Daisy dinnerware and Delft pottery.

A lover of animals, caregiver to two adopted dogs and several cats, as well as former Standardbred race horses, she was a fan of all horses, particularly those with Koko in their name. One of her favorite races was when Chris Page had a winning drive behind Koko Beach Boy at Colonial Downs. She also was an avid fan of the New York Mets since their founding and followed the team closely every season.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, David; sons, Jason and Jonathan (spouse Daniel Zellers); sister, Donna (David) Crawley; and brothers, Robert Lazowsky and Mark (Patti) Lazowsky.

A remembrance will be held privately by the family in the coming months.
