Swan In Motion rallies to Dover victory

Dover, DE — Swan In Motion rode the pocket and rallied up the open stretch for a 1:54 win in Tuesday’s (March 8) $26,000 Open Handicap Trot at Dover Downs.

Northern Express and Swan In Motion left in unison from their assigned outermost posts and lined up in that order through a blistering :27 first quarter, with Northern Express clearing after being strung out by Swan In Motion on the first turn. Northern Express relaxed the half to :56.1 before evading a first-over challenge from Ginger Tree Skyr up the backstretch, remaining uncontested at three-quarters in 1:25. After drafting comfortably throughout, Art Stafford Jr. directed Swan In Motion to the open stretch, and the 5-year-old son of Swan For All rallied to his third consecutive win by three-quarters of a length. Northern Express finished second; 8-5 favorite Quiksilvr Bluechip was a ground-saving third.

Wednesday night’s (March 9) card features Soho Burning Love A and Shes Pukka N squaring off in the $25,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace, while players will be treated to a $1,714 carryover in the Pick-5, which spans races six through 10. First post time is 4:30 p.m.
