Sweetheart winner scores in sophomore debut

Dover, DE — Jerseylicious, the 2012 Sweetheart Pace champion, made her 3-year-old debut a winning one as she scored in 1:53.1 in a $6,500 conditioned pace on Tuesday night (Feb. 12) at Dover Downs.

Owned by Legacy Racing of DE Inc. and Pamela Curran, the daughter of Western Ideal-Jet Lag N is trained by Wayne Givens and was driven to victory by Corey Callahan.

Callahan put Jerseylicious on the lead past the opening quarter of :27.4 and she set subsequent fractions of :57.1 and 1:25.3 on her way to the 1:53.1 score. She was eight lengths better than runner-up Love That Badlands.

Last year as a 2-year-old, Jerseylicious had one win, four seconds and one third in seven trips to the post, with earnings of $191,106. That lone victory was a 1:52.1 score in the $268,300 Sweetheart at Meadowlands Racetrack, where she nipped heavily favored Nikki Beach by a neck.
