Tachyon impressive winner in Pocono featured trot

Wilkes-Barre, PA – The Muscle Hill sophomore gelding Tachyon, a $190,000 yearling purchase, looks like he’s ready to start fulfilling his potential, winning the $15,000 featured trot at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono on Monday (June 13) afternoon and reducing his mark to 1:54.1.

Tachyon didn’t have much speed away from the gate, but driver/trainer Åke Svanstedt got him fired up late on the first turn, and he moved to the lead past the :28.3 quarter, reaching the half in :57.3. Theresnolimit S ranged up to challenge down the backstretch towards and past the 1:26 three-quarters, but Tacyhon had a :28.1 finishing kick in him to be well clear of his opposition at the finish. The 3-year-old has now won two of his last three starts for co-owners Svanstedt, Joe Sbrocco, and Purnel & Libby LLC.

Driver Ridge Warren, fitting in in his first extended tour of duty at Pocono, brought in the second-longest-priced horse of the local year when he clicked with TSM Batman at $99.40 for trainer Bob Krenitsky Jr. and owner Theodore Tomson.

The racing week closes out on Tuesday (June 14) at Pocono, with the first post 1:30 p.m. Program pages are available at: https://www.phha.org/downsmsppps.html.
