Taser Gun to meet noted trainer John Lyons

from the American Standardbred Adoption Program

DeSoto, WI — On Saturday, July 19, Taser Gun will come face to face with internationally-known horse trainer John Lyons on Taser’s own turf at the American Standardbred Adoption Program, Inc. in Wisconsin.

Taser was retired in 2007, and has spent the past ten months living the life of leisure at the ASAP farm. He has been slowly acclimated into a small herd of pasture mates, and Susan Wellman, director of ASAP Inc., feels it is time for Taser to be retrained to saddle.

What better person to do the job than John Lyons!

But as they square off, who is willing to bet how the all day traninig session wil go? Will John Lyons have his hands full with this horse? Or will Taser Gun take to the saddle without blinking an eye?

Robert Walker, former trainer of Taser Gun, states to be careful when tacking Taser up.

“When I went to put the harness on, Taser often would come straight up in the air.”

Walker also reports that if they had known what a mighty racehorse Taser would become, they never would have had him gelded.

“On the other hand,” he says, “I think if we had kept him a stud he might have killed me!”

Taser Gun is also internationally known as a racehorse who boasts lifetime earnings exceeding $1.1 million.

ASAP is seeking sponsorship dollars for this great event. Please consider a monetary gift, or purchase tickets by contacting Susan Wellman at asapinc@mwt.net or (608) 689-2399. Tickets are $40 each.

John Lyons will work Taser Gun in an indoor arena area with no round pen. Vendors and lunch are available on the grounds and there will be drawings for great prizes.
