The 13-year-old stallion Taurus Dream died Tuesday (Feb. 7) in France on his way to his new station in Sweden.

In 2011 he stood in Ontario, where he covered 71 mares.

Within the last couple of years he had remarkable success, especially with two fillies — Crys Dream 3,1:53.2s ($1,262,068) and Iron Lady 3, 1:53.3 ($190.297). Taurus Dream had 55 starters, who had earned $3,441,315.

Taurus Dream, who was owned by legendary French horseman Jean Pierre Dubois in his Canadian stable, Reve Avec Moi, arrived in France a couple of weeks ago, but become ill and died. He would have been at stud at the Valneviken Stud in Sweden this year.

In other sad stallion news, the 26-year-old Demilo Hanover died in Sweden. Demilo Hanover won 11 races, earned $395,042 and took a mark of 1:55.1 as a 3-year-old at Springfield.

Demilo Hanover, who was sired by Super Bowl and out of Descent, never really took off as a sire in Europe although he had some decent offspring.
