Team New Vocations edges out Team HHYF at Scioto

Columbus, OH — On Tuesday afternoon (June 19), Eldorado Scioto Downs played host to the Tetrick vs. Tetrick Pro-Am, which was won by Team New Vocations (Tim Tetrick and Aaron Merriman).

Team New Vocations, captained by Tim Tetrick and Aaron Merriman, took top honors in the Tetrick vs. Tetrick Pro-Am at Eldorado Scioto Downs.
Consistency was the name of the game on Tuesday, and while Team Harness Horse Youth Foundation (Trace Tetrick and Dan Noble) may have accounted for the winners of all four races, Team New Vocations gained the upper hand on the scoresheet by sweeping second through fifth places in the final leg.
Dan Noble (HHYF) kicked things off in the afternoon’s second race, going to the lead with William Star and never relinquishing it. When the gate opened, Bumblebzbuzz (Tim Tetrick) left and got into a good early position. As the field approached the three-quarter pole, Tetrick wavered to Utopia (Steve Oldford), who gave chase but couldn’t get to the winner.
Noble continued his winning ways in the second leg with the same strategy as the first, scoring on the front end with Iwanashowusomethin. Lucky Shot (Aaron Merriman) left with Noble, took up a pocket position and then faded towards the end of the mile. That allowed Feel The Heat (Joey Putnam) to get into the race and close to finish second.

Trace Tetrick earned his second driving win of the Pro-Am with Dontgetinhisway.
Trace Tetrick was the first — and only — of the Tetricks to score a victory, doing so in the third leg of the Pro-Am. Preacher Ollie (Aaron Merriman) left when the gate opened and Merriman tried to ration out the fractions on the front end. Rnb’srockinthetrak followed from the pocket and made his move turning for home, clearing the leader and scoring by a length in 1:54.3. Happy Stew E (Michelle Ruvola) closed to be third.
It came down to the final leg of the Pro-Am to decide the winner, as Team HHYF was only ahead by six points. When the race concluded, Team New Vocations took the lead with four of their drivers finishing in the top five. Trace Tetrick scored his second victory of the day on Dontgetinhisway, who won by 1-1/2 lengths.
Both teams were able to raise just over $12,000 for New Vocations and the Harness Horse Youth Foundation. “Thanks to Scioto Downs for hosting this event; we look forward to returning next year. We appreciate the sponsorship from NAADA and the OHHA,” said Oldford.
The final score of the Tetrick vs. Tetrick Pro-Am was New Vocations 116, Harness Horse Youth Foundation 114.

In late February, the initial Pro-Am Competition was staged at Pompano Park. On Tuesday (June 19) at Eldorado Scioto Downs, the second edition of the challenge where the amateur drivers competed in races with and against some of the industry’s top reinsmen was showcased.
