Chester PA — Southwind Tempo ran her lifetime record to a gaudy 13-for-14 with a victory in a division of the $50,000 Valley Forge for 3-year-old pacing fillies, and driver Tim Tetrick captured seven races on the card (including three Valley Forge divisions) as racing action continued on Thursday (July 12) at Harrah’s Chester Casino & Racetrack.

Southwind Tempo was a 1:50.3 winner in her Valley Forge division.

Benefitting from a confident drive from national dash leader Tetrick, Southwind Tempo assumed command leaving the first quarter-mile in :27.1, then controlled every step thereafter en route to a convincing 2-3/4 length victory in the third division of the Valley Forge. The Steve Elliott-trainee cut fractions of :55.2 and 1:24 en route to a final clocking of 1:50.3.

“She’s a real good filly,” Tetrick said afterwards, “and probably the best I ever drove. When the pace settled down, I just asked her, and she went right to the front. She’s very versatile. She’s just a great horse.”

Southwind Tempo, owned by Toby Lynch and former New York Jet Wayne Chrebet, paid $2.20 to win as the overwhelming 1-10 choice.

The other star of the day was owner Lloyd Arnold of Dover, Delaware, who saw two members of his stable, Art’s Fantasy and Captiva Island, capture divisions of the Valley Forge.

Art’s Fantasy led every step of the way for Tony Morgan to take the first division in 1:51.2, and Captiva Island accounted for the second division by charging late for Tetrick to gain a nose decision in 1:52.1.

Artcotic took the lead early for Tetrick and never looked back in the fourth division of the Valley Forge. She stopped the timer in 1:51.

For Tetrick, his seven victories established a track record for most wins in one day and pushed his three-day meet total to 16, seven more than second place Tony Morgan.
