Columbus, OH — Ten divisions of Ohio Sires Stakes (OSS) were contested Saturday night, July 11 at Scioto Downs. 

Charlie May (McCardle-Stipple Hanover) captured the first of four $40,000 OSS contests for 2-year-old pacing colts for driver Danny Noble as the 1-9 favorite in 1:54.2.  It was the second career victory for the brown son of McArdle in as many lifetime starts.  Trained by Steve Carter, Charlie May now has $95,000 in career earnings for breeder-owner Don Tiger.  Barnard Hanover (Chris Page), a 16-1 longshot, while I’m Sorry Man (Brett Miller) was steered to a third-place finish at 5-1 odds.

Lady Arthur (Arthur Blue Chip-April Three) took the first of four $40,000 OSS races for freshman pacing fillies in 1:53.2 in a wire-to-wire performance for driver Ronnie Wrenn, Jr., besting rival Summer Touch (Chris Page) by a neck.  Disaronno Hill (Brett Miller) was third.  Lady Arthur is a daughter by Arthur Blue chip and the victory was the first of her career in two starts.  She now has $22,738 in career earnings for trainer and co-owner Dr. Ian Moore, who owns the filly in partnership with the RG McGroup and Serge Savard.

Yanks Dugout (Kurt Sugg) captured the first of two $50,000 OSS events for 3-year-old trotting colts, besting four rivals in 1:54.2 and holding off a late charge by It’s Academic (Chris Page) by a head.  It was the second victory in the series for the son of Triumphant Caviar who is trained by Edward Miller for owners Ivan and Duke Sugg, who also bred the youngster.  Yanks Dugout now has $75,333 in his career coffers.  Stonefire US (Dewayne Minor) nabbing third-place honors. 

Laughagain Hanover (McArdle-Laughing Once More) got a perfect steer by Peter Wrenn to capture the second OSS division for freshmen pacing colts, stopping the timer in 1:54.3.  The son of McArdle, who is trained by Laura Searway, left the gate as the 9-5 favorite and notched his second-lifetime win in as many tries.  Hill Yeah (Chris Page) was second at 3-1, while 3-1 Jackie Moon (Josh Sutton) was third. Owned by Michael Cimaglio, W. Richardson and R Cimaglio, Laughagain Hanover has $22,248 in career earnings.

Winella Hanover (Racing Hill-Western Duel) took a new lifetime mark of 1:54.4 en route to her victory in the second OSS for 2-year-old pacing fillies. Driven by Chris Page for trainer Ronnie Burke, the daughter of Racing Hill notched her third straight triumph in as many tries.  Owned by Burke Racing, Weaver Bruscemi, J. Mellilo  and J&T Silva-Purnel&Libby, Winella Hanover now has $97,800 in her career bankroll.

Action Uncle captured the second OSS for 3-year-old trotting colts via a front-end trip for driver Brett Miller in 1:54.4.  Trained by Virgil Morgan, Jr., the son of Uncle Peter notched his third straight OSS triumph for owners Cart Howard, Joyce McClelland and Larry Wills.  The 1-9 favorite upped his seasonal earnings to $80,500 with four wins in as many tries.  Wading Boots (Chris Page) was second, while Doubleyellowline (Dan Noble) got up for third.

Hardt At Work (Manhardt-River Bend Raider) prevailed in the third OSS division for 2-year-old pacing colts, tripping the timer in 1:55.1.  The son of Manhardt is conditioned and was driven by Mike Micallef for Brett Boyd Racing and Anthony Formosa.  Rockin Airway (Kayne Kauffman) was second, while Caviart Sargent (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) was third.  Hardt At Work is now two for two in his brief career and sports a bankroll of $23,750.

Leave Her Wild (Domethatagain-Iemma Machine Baby) exploded in the final yards to win the third OSS contest for 2-year-old pacing fillies in 1:55.1.  Driven by Ronnie Wrenn, Jr., for trainer-owner Danielle Snyder, the daughter by Domethatagain picked up her second straight victory in as many tries, upping her career earnings to $23,400.  Pinknperfect (Chris Page) was second, while She Knows It All (Brett Miller) nailed down show honors.

Odds on Pick Six (Racing Hill-Beach Party Hill) captured the final OSS for 2-year-old pacing fillies in a commanding 1:54.2 for driver Peter Wrenn and trainer Melanie Wrenn.  The daughter of Racing Hill picked up her first career win for Odds On Racing as the 2-5 favorite, besting Home Team (Ronnie Wrenn, Jr.) and 52-1 Rose Run Warner (Trevor Smith).  Odds On Pick Six now has $57,500 in career earnings. 

Sentimental (The Panderosa-Downwyn Kate) captured the final Ohio Sires Stakes for 2-year-old pacing fillies in 1:56.1 with Tyler Smith driving for trainer John Ackley and the CT Stables of Washington Court House, Ohio. This bay filly is by Ohio sire The Panderosa and now has two wins in as many career starts.  Bred by Marvin Raber of Berlin, Ohio, Sentimental sports a bankroll of $23,750.  Lady Sconset (Derek Watiker) was second with Rocking The Blues (Danny Noble) third.
