Tequila Talkin cuts comfortable fractions, wins Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Tequila Talkin worked out a comfortable 58.3 internal half and scored as the 3-5 favorite in Wednesday’s (Oct. 11) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $16,250 Conditioned Trot.

Tequila Talkin quarter-poled to the top from second, and once Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. threw on the brakes, the 8-year-old Cantab Hall-Margarita Nights gelding was virtually uncatchable. The pocket-sitting Saint K made it relatively close, falling 1/2 length short, while Spicy Nugget finished third. Winning time was 1:54.3.

Ron Burke trains Tequila Talkin, who lifted his career bankroll to $493,498, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.

Elsewhere on Wednesday’s program, Benjamin Hanover extended his winning streak to five with a 1:54.2 victory in a $12,500 Conditioned Trot. Although the 3-year-old Sebastian K S-By A Neck Hanover gelding prevailed by only a head Wednesday, his combined victory margin during the streak is 37-1/2 lengths plus that head. Aaron Merriman drove for trainer Sarah Andrews, who owns with Angela Cornell and Jarod Miller.

Wrenn and Burke teamed for three wins on the 13-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (Oct. 12) when the 13-race program features a $1,673.13 carryover in the Pick-5 (race 9). First post is 12:45 p.m.
