Tetrick brothers to battle in Pro-Am Challenge at Scioto Downs

by Ashley Tetrick

Woolwich Twp., NJ — Tuesday (June 19) will be an exciting afternoon of brotherly love and fierce competition at Eldorado Scioto Downs, located just outside of Columbus, Ohio.

Arguably the best duo of driving brothers in the history of harness racing, along with members of several amateur driving clubs, including The Florida Amateur Driving Club, The North American Driving Association, and the C.K.G. Billings Harness Driving Association, will be racing head-to-head for charity — Tim Tetrick for New Vocations and Trace Tetrick for the Harness Horse Youth Foundation.

Team Tim Tetrick’s co-captain will be Aaron Merriman and Team Trace Tetrick’s co-captain will be Dan Noble. Each team will be completed with amateur drivers who pay for the privilege of driving with Tim, currently ranked first among North American leading money earners in 2018 and Trace who is currently sitting fifth on the same list. Teams will compete in four races accumulating points in each event.

Points will be awarded to drivers for participation in each division in accordance with the scoring system based on the following formula: 1st Place = (starters +5); 2nd Place = (starters); 3rd Place = (starters -2); 4th Place = (starters -3); 5th Place = (starters -4); 6th Place = (starters -5); 7th Place = (starters -6); 8th Place = (starters -7), etc.

At the end of the day, one team will earn bragging rights while both teams will have helped two important industry charities.

“Racing horses is our almost all-consuming livelihood and we are both blessed in our success,” explained Tim Tetrick. “So this opportunity to help give back to the business will be fun, especially since our roots are in the Midwest.”

New Vocations stands in the gap for retired racehorses, providing a safety-net through rehabilitation, education, and placement in qualified, caring homes. New Vocations is a 501(c)(3) non-profit racehorse adoption program.

Harness Horse Youth Foundation provides young people and their families information and experiences with harness horses in order to foster the next generation of fans and participants. HHYF is a 501(c)(3) public charity.
