“The Art of Lumen Martin Winters Rediscovered” Lunch & Learn Lecture at Museum

from the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame

Goshen, NY — Lumen Martin Winter (1908-1982) is an artist almost unknown today. But through the efforts of art conservator Alexander Katlan and others, the artist and his work are now being rediscovered.

The Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame, in Goshen, N.Y., is proud to present The Spirit of the Horse, the first museum exhibition of Winter’s work since his death in 1982.

On Monday (Sept. 28), during a Lunch & Learn presentation at the Harness Racing Museum, Alexander Katlan will discuss the artist who spent a large part of his career as a muralist and the artist’s body of work.

Tickets for the Lunch & Learn lecture are $16 for Museum members and $18 for non-members, and include a buffet lunch with soft beverages and dessert. The Museum is located at 240 Main Street, Goshen, NY 10924. Because of interest in the artist and the risk of selling out early, reservations are required by Friday (Sept. 25); please call 845.294.6330.

Alexander Katlan of Alexander Katlan Conservator, Inc., a Professional Associate member of the American Institute for Conservation, aided in the curation of the current exhibition, The Spirit of the Horse, at the Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame. The exhibition shows drawings and watercolors that Lumen Winter created in Santa Fe, N.M. and will run from June 1, 2015 to May 31, 2016.
