The Dubois legacy lives on in France

The legendary French horseman Jean Pierre Dubois is well known for the success he has had mixing French bloodlines with Americans. But on the human side his sons and now his grandsons are also playing a major role in the races at Vincennes.

His grandson, Louis Baudron, had a jubilant weekend as he won two of the major races at Vincennes.

Priscilla Blue was a winner in the Prix de l’Ile de France.

On Saturday afternoon (Feb. 6) Baudron won the Prix Roquepine with his own Texas Style, a 3-year-old filly sired by Goetmals Wood — one of his grandfather’s leading stallions.

Texas Style has established herself as the best filly in her crop, winning six races from 10 starts with earnings of $300,000.

On Sunday afternoon (Feb. 7) Baudron sent the 7-year-old mare Priscilla Blue out in the saddle race, Prix de l’Ile de France, with a total purse of $275,000. His friend, Eric Raffin, was in the saddle and guided Priscilla Blue to an easy victory.

Priscilla Blue is sired by another top sire from Jean Pierre Dubois, the now deceased Extreme Dream. She was bred by Veronique Dubois — the mother of Louis Baudron.

So in French racing it all comes down to Dubois!
