Ft. Washington, MD — Kelley Rogers’ The Fraternity Pan ($5.40, $4.80, $2.80) opened on the board as the favorite in the $8,200 Winners Over Pace at Rosecroft Raceway on Tuesday (April 11) and held true to his supporters by wiring the field with a strong trip.

The sharp seven-year-old Artsplace stallion left alertly off the gate from post four under the guidance of driver Corey Braden. Pacing through well-rated fractions of :28, :57.4 and 1:25.3, The Fraternity Pan drew away from his trailers in the stretch to win by three and a half lengths in 1:53.1. Trained by Ken Schlotzhauer, the horse earned his third win of the year from 12 starts and bettered his yearly mark by two-fifths of a second.

Mr Thinker ($18.80, $5.40), overlooked at the betting windows at 20-1 odds, scored a pocket trip for second. Driven confidently by Donnie Russell, the six-year-old Glowing Tribute horse closed with a :28 final quarter. Third under the wire was Dixie Pride ($5.20). The five-year-old Real Artist stallion made up lengths through the back half of the race after sitting in last with Joe Offutt in the sulky. Dixie Pride has recently been very tough in the Winners Over class at Rosecroft, winning two consecutive weeks with a time of 1:53.1 or faster. Armbro Ben and Mark Clark managed to break through traffic in the stretch for fourth. The five-year-old son of The Panderosa was a strong finisher last week, missing the win by a neck.

The 4-2-8 triple paid $367.00 and the 4-2-8-3 superfecta returned $3,269.50.

Live racing returns to the Rosecroft oval on Saturday, and post time is 7:20 p.m.
