The Gypsy Queen IR corrects course, gets sixth straight; Merriman wins six

Washington, PA — The Gypsy Queen IR extended her winning streak to six with a front-end victory in Wednesday’s (Jan.31) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,100 Filly & Mare Conditioned Pace.

The Gypsy Queen IR had to share the spotlight with Aaron Merriman, who piloted six winners on the 13-race card, including a pair for trainer Justin Lloyd.

The 3-5 favorite, The Gypsy Queen IR provided some anxious moments when she bore out the first time through the lane. But Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. wrangled her back to the cones, and rolled on to score by 3-1/2 lengths in 1:53. The pocket-sitting Hillbilly Kisses and the first-over Catch N Kill rounded out the ticket.

Michael Burke trains the winner, a 6-year-old daughter of Foreclosure N-Cannae Diamonds who now has banked $118,771, for Burke Racing Stable. Wrenn collected three wins on the card, including two for Burke.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (Feb.1), first post 12:45 p.m.
