The ladies in a showdown at Scioto Downs

from Eldorado Gaming Scioto Downs

Columbus, OH — The highlight of this weekend’s racing action at Eldorado Scioto Downs looks to take place on Friday (June 3). The Open Pace for fillies and mares, which carries a purse of $22,000, will go as race seven of a baker’s dozen on Friday.

Eight mares are geared up for a showdown, with the top three choices in the morning line all coming in off open length victories.

Rock N Roll Xample looks to extend her winning streak to four races but it will not be easy. The 5-year-old Rene Allard trained mare will again be piloted by Peter Wrenn. Last week she rolled home off cover to score in 1:52.2, delivering $4.20 for a $2 win ticket to her backers. This week she’s got some serious competition.

Skippin By, who jogged to victory in 1:52.1 over a group of conditioned mares in her Eldorado Scioto Downs debut, is trained by Ron Burke and she will again have the services of Chris Page in the bike and should have no issue stepping up in class. Earlier in the year, she held her own against some of the best mares in training at Yonkers Raceway.

American Girl invades from Hoosier Park to join the fray and all she did last week was trounce Invitational mares by four-plus lengths, tripping the timer in 1:50.3. Trained by Tyler George, the 7-year-old gets the services of the talented Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and should be prominent.

The balance of the eight mare field, from the rail out, is Addys Way (Dan Noble), Prima Dragon (Aaron Merriman), Your Beautiful (Mike Wilder), Pertty Music (Kyle Ater) and Igotafeelinfran (Kayne Kauffman).
