The Raceway to resume live racing on Feb. 16

London, ON — Following Friday’s designation of the London-Middlesex Region being placed in the ‘Red-Control’ zone by the Government of Ontario, The Raceway at Western Fair District has announced plans to resume live racing, without spectators, at the London oval on Tuesday (Feb. 16).

London-Middlesex will officially enter the ‘Red-Control’ zone as of 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 16). Live horse racing, without spectators, is permitted in all phases of the province’s current COVID-19 Response Framework except for ‘Grey-Lockdown.’

With the resumption of racing on Feb. 16, The Raceway will proceed with its regular schedule of live racing every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Post times for Tuesday (Feb. 16) and Wednesday (Feb. 17) will be 6:15 p.m. with Friday (Feb. 19) at 4:50 p.m.

The Raceway will adjust its Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday post times to 5:50 p.m., beginning on Monday (Feb. 22). Friday’s post time will be 4:50 p.m.

Training will be offered every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. followed by qualifiers, beginning on Feb. 18.

As per the Government of Ontario’s restrictions, spectators are not permitted at The Raceway at this time. Only those performing essential duties relating to the operating of live horse racing are currently permitted onsite.
