Lexington, KY — The Red Mile will kick off its 2022 live racing season in grand style this weekend as  25 Kentucky Sires Stake races will be contested on the opening week.

Sunday will feature seven Kentucky Sires Stake events featuring 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters. Also on the card will be six full fields of overnight races.

Monday’s card will also have seven Kentucky Sires Stakes along with six more full fields of overnights. Monday will feature 2-year-old filly trotters.

Tuesday’s big 15-race card will include 11 Kentucky Sires Stake events. Both 2-year-old filly pacers and 3-year-old filly trotters will go postward. Also on Tuesday, there will be four more overnight events, all with full fields.

New for 2022 will be the introduction by The Red Mile of penny breakage.

Post time at The Red Mile will be 1 p.m. each Sunday through Tuesday from July 31 until Sept. 20.

Also featured on the 2022 race cards will be carryovers in all Pick-3, Pick-4, Pick-5, and Super High 5 wagers. The Pick-4 will also carry a $5,000 guarantee each Sunday.
