Think Of Galaxies fends off late challenge, repeats in Meadows distaff

Washington, PA — Think Of Galaxies led every step but had to withstand a late challenge by the pocket-sitting Blue Ivy to secure victory — her second straight — in Thursday’s (Aug. 31) $19,200 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

When Think of Galaxies threw down a 1:22 three-quarters, she discouraged any outside flow. But she couldn’t shake Blue Ivy, who swung wide for the drive. Think Of Galaxies dug in for Anthony MacDonald and held off Blue Ivy by three-quarters of a length in 1:50.2, a tick slower than the lifetime mark she earned last week. Dewitt For Josie finished third.

Tim Twaddle trains Think of Galaxies, a 5-year-old daughter of So Surreal-Lightning D Dube who now boasts career earnings of $325,095, for TheStable Thinkofgalaxies Group.

Dave Palone and trainer Ron Burke each fashioned a three-bagger on the 12-race card while MacDonald and Twaddle teamed for a pair of wins.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Friday (Sept. 1); first post is 5:10 p.m.
