Thirteen nominate to Wiseman Memorial Trot at Running Aces

Columbus, MN — The nominations have closed for the 2022 Steve Wiseman Memorial Trot at Running Aces, and this year’s event drew a total of 13 nominations, including the 2021 winner All American N from the Williams Hernandez stable and trained by Maria Alvarez.

Last year’s runner-up Pridecrest also returns for trainer Kathie Plested-Wiseman, along with third place finisher Bordogna for trainer Justin Anfinson.

Elimination races will be held on Sunday (June 19), and will carry a purse of $17,500 each, and the top four finishers as well as the fastest fifth place finisher from the elimination races will return for the $35,000 final on Sunday (June 26).

The Wiseman Memorial event at Running Aces has been billed as the “Whatever It Takes Race Night” which pays homage to the memory of Steve, who adopted a song with that title as his personal anthem and aptly sums up the way that he decided to deal with his cancer diagnosis and the treatment process as he bravely fought hard to be around for as long as he possibly could.

Steve was one of the most accomplished drivers and trainers to have raced at Running Aces and ranks among the top competitors in track history, and he was very popular with local race fans.

The big night will not only include the exciting final heat of the Wiseman Trot, but will offer a hat giveaway, family night activities and specials, and host an awareness night and fundraising event for colon cancer, with special guests on site from the Colon Cancer Coalition.
