Thomas Clark, 81, dies

Columbus, OH — Thomas Clark, 81, died Feb. 9, 2012, at the Wings Home in Allegan, Mich.

Mr. Clark was born August 27, 1930, in Valley Twp., the son of Edward and Elsie (Reid) Clark. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a military policeman. On Sept. 9, 1952, he married Wanda Kleinbrink at the Allegan County Fair in the grandstand in front of 4,000 people.

He farmed since he was 14 years old, raising crops and livestock. In the early 1980s he became involved with Standardbreds, which he loved for the next 20 years. He was also quite a fighter; in 1953 he was the Michigan Golden Gloves Heavyweight Champion.

Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Wanda; children, Tom (Pam), Gary (Robin) and Sandy (Joe) Dendel; grandchildren, Nathan, Shannon (Ethan) Englehorn, Brandon, Alan (Erin), Jennifer, Ryan Utter and Max Miniat; great-grandson, Marcus; brother, Dick (Ellie); and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy, Harry, George, Bill, Ed and Jim; and sisters, Ethel and Rosie.

Friends may meet with the family on Sunday (Feb. 12) from 2-5 p.m. at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, www.gordenfuneral.com, where funeral services will be held on Monday (Feb. 13) at 11 a.m. Pastor Joe Spackman will officiate. Interment at Hudson Corners Cemetery, Allegan Twp.
