Westfield, IN — Maddie Dudka, Stephanie Huebner, and Billy Wade Rosson have been selected as recipients of the Harness Horse Youth Foundation scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year.

“There were some very difficult choices,” said HHYF President Callie Davies-Gooch. “For each scholarship, there was a ‘photo finish’ as this year’s applicants were tightly bunched in terms of academics and financial need, so it was hard to select just one recipient.”

Ms. Dudka, from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., will receive the $15,000 Gallo Blue Chip Scholarship sponsored by Martin Scharf and will study nursing at Russell Sage College in the fall. The daughter of trainer/driver Paul Dudka, Ms. Dudka graduated with an Honors Diploma and was co-captain and an active member of her high school’s varsity field hockey team.

Ms. Huebner will receive the $2,500 Curt Greene Memorial Scholarship. She was valedictorian of her class and earned countless academic honors in her high school career. She is also dedicated to the harness racing industry and hopes to own a farm and become a trainer of Standardbreds. Ms. Huebner is the daughter of Stephen and Kay Huebner from Plain City, Ohio and will enter Otterbein College to obtain a degree in Equine Business and Facility Management.

The recipient of the $650 MHS Scholarship sponsored by Joe Putnam and Trent Stohler is Billy Wade Rosson, son of Doug and Julie Rideout from Winchester, Ind. Mr. Rosson wants to pursue a degree in Math and Education while attending Wabash College. He was an active participant in football, wrestling and track while attending high school as well as assisting his parents with their stable for most of his life.
