East Rutherford, NJ — He had to work a bit harder this time, but Time To Quit was victorious once again on Thursday (Jan. 16) at the Meadowlands, winning his division of the second round of the Super Bowl by a hard-fought nose over Cajole Hanover in 1:55.1.

Time To Quit was a nose winner over Cajole Hanover in their division of the Super Bowl.

Despite being labeled as the horse to beat in the series, Time To Quit escaped as the second choice in the wagering at 2-1. Cajole Hanover received all the late attention at the windows, coming off a trip that saw him make up a ton of ground following a break.

The two favorites trotted to the wire together, with Time To Quit getting his nose on the wire first for the tandem of driver Yannick Gingras and trainer Ron Burke. Time To Quit is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura.

Clementine Dream, sporting several equipment changes, turned a live cover trip into a fairly easy win in his Super Bowl division in 1:55.2 for Scott Zeron, who scored a double on the card.

Clementine Dream joins Time To Quit, Donatella Hanover (who skipped round two), Home Turf and Ray Hall as winners in the first two rounds in the Super Bowl. Clementine Dream is owned by Racing Team of America and Brian Paquet.

The Super Bowl final will be contested on Wednesday (Jan. 22), which is the final night of live racing before the NFL Super Bowl break.

The biggest story of the night may have been the on-track handle which soared 40 percent over this same Thursday in 2013. Combined with an increase in export as well, the total handle of $2,069,125 was a near 10 percent increase over that same card.

Racing resumes on Friday, with first post time at 7:15 p.m.
