Timothy Case, 44, dies

Columbus, OH — Timothy Daniel Case, 44, of Middletown, N.Y., died July 28, 2012.

Mr. Case was born in Lewiston, Maine, on Dec. 31, 1967. Taught by his father, he jogged his first horse at age 6, and went on to become a succesful trainer all across the U.S.

In his career, he trained 1,768 winners who earned purses worth $9.54 million. In his most successful season, 2007, horses trained by Mr. Case earned nearly $2 million. Locally, he was the leading trainer at Yonkers Raceway for three seasons, from 2003 to 2005.

Mr. Case is survived by his wife, Dolores Domenique Basilone-Case; mother, Carol (Meira); siblings, Walter (Luann), Steven and Kelly (David) Case-Ingraham; mother-in-law and dear friend, C.C. Pecora; father-in-law, Sal Basilone; aunt, Kathy Aube; good friend and lifelong supporter, Steve Ralph; many nieces and nephews; and his two faithful dogs, Xavier and Jeremy. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter.

Visitation will be on Friday (August 3) from 2-9 p.m. at Duchynski-Cherko Funeral Home, 107 Yonkers Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday (August 4) at St. Casimir’s Church at 10 a.m. Interment is private.
