POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Tintabella N continued her recent domination of the female pacing division at Pompano Park on Friday, scoring her third consecutive victory when taking the featured $10,000 Fillies and Mare Open I Pace from the South Florida oval in 1:53.3.

Guided from post one by Daryl Bier, Tintabella N was quick off the gate to seize control of the Friday feature, covering the opening quarter mile in :28.1 before catching a second panel breather in :30 to pass the half-mile pole in :58.1.

TINTABELLA N and driver Daryl Bier prevail for the third straight time when taking Friday’s $10,000 Fillies and Mares Open I Pace at Pompano Park in 1:53.3.

Tintabella N continued to show the way down the backstretch, reaching the three-quarters marker in 1:25.3 while facing continued pressure from race favorite My Metallica (David Ingraham), who attacked from the outside while pacing first-over.

Tintabella N entered the stretch with a 1-1/4 length advantage, and remained strong down the lane, turning back the challenge of My Metallica to prevail by a length at the wire after a final quarter clocked in :28.

Owned by Glenn Del Russo and Daryl Bier, and trained by Gus Scarpias, Tintabella N has visited the winner’s circle in five of her last six outings, with her only defeat during that span coming on April 20, when she was beaten a neck while crossing the wire third.

SATURDAY FEATURE TO HONOR GEORGE T. GILMOUR

Saturday’s third-race featured event from Pompano Park is named in honor of trainer/driver George T. Gilmour of Margate, Fla., who passed away on Monday, May 7, at the age of 72.

Gilmour was a popular horseman at Pompano Park for many years, and won over 1,800 races during his driving career while tallying 95 victories as a conditioner.

Family members will be trackside at Pompano for Saturday’s memorial, and friends and fans of Gilmour are invited to the winner’s circle for a special blanket presentation following the race.

Headlining the George T. Gilmour Memorial Open I Pace is Sandstorm N, a winner in two of his last three starts. The 6-year-old gelding exits a winning performance at Pompano on May 5 where he covered the mile in 1:51.3 for driver Daryl Bier and trainer Gus Scarpias.
