Tioga Downs, top drivers say yes to helping horses

by Gen Sullivan, for the Standardbred Retirement Foundation

Freehold, NJ — Racing fans won’t be the only ones who will share in the excitement of watching some of the sport’s best drivers square off in Tioga Downs’ first annual Drivers’ Championship on Sunday, July 29. Thanks to the generosity of several of the competing drivers and Tioga Downs management, horses cared for by the Standardbred Retirement Foundation (SRF) will also benefit.

Tioga Downs asked participants in the Drivers’ Championship to donate their five percent earnings to a charity of their choice. Jeff Gural, Chairman of American Racing and Entertainment, will match the donations of drivers who choose to participate.

Drivers Yannick Gingras, Jody Jamieson, Andy Miller, Dave Miller, Brian Sears and Tim Tetrick have all chosen the SRF as their beneficiary.

“It’s wonderful that the competing drivers will not only crown a champion among themselves that day, they are also championing the SRF’s cause by helping us help the horses who make it all possible,” said Gen Sullivan of the Standardbred Retirement Foundation. “The Drivers’ Championship is a great idea and we want to thank the drivers, Tioga Downs and Jeff Gural for their support.”

For more information or to make a donation call (732) 462-8773 or visit the SRF Web site at www.Adoptahorse.org.
