TLAER workshop set for April 9-10

Columbus, OH — The Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue Awareness Level training course brings together in two days (April 9-10) all of the latest concepts, techniques, procedures and equipment being used today.

It covers the latest emergency and disaster preparedness, basic concepts in large animal emergency rescue, review of large animal behavior and senses, containment and restraint of large animals, critical medical concerns during large animal incidents, the role of the veterinarian, the role of emergency responders, introduction to livestock trailer overturns and response.

It also deals with prevention and response to fire scenarios, facility evacuation planning, emergency field humane euthanasia, and a variety of emergency extrication and transport methods.

The Ohio Fire Academy and the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board (veterinarians and RVTs) have approved 15 hours of CE credit for completion of this course.

The course will be taught at Otterbein College’s Center for Equine Studies, 600 N. Spring Rd., Westerville, Ohio.
